If you want a nice black driveway then its OK, but I dont see how its making anything last longer Arent you better off ensuring your vehicles dont leak oil and gas onto the pavement in the first place?
Indeed and unless they seal the cracks first then a thing layer just disappears into the crack without sealing it.

A bitumen emulsion is fine as preventative maintenance to extend the life of a bitumen surface if the existing surface is structurally sound. If the surface has become fretted through water ingress and frost action or just oxidation of the bitumen binder over time then the bitumen emulsion will seal those gaps. Normally there will be a fine aggregate in the bitumen emulsion which will help fill the gaps.

If the surface is not structurally sound eg is cracked then the bitumen emulsion will not do much good as the crack will just reappear.

That's exactly my sentiments. I recognised yesterdays miscreant by his ancient GM Suburban as someone who did it before. Poorly.

It wouldn't hurt to get it done. Last year we had piles of crushed stone and topsoil on the drive and I managed to put some gouges in with the excavator bucket when moving it all so a decent coat of sealant would be good. It'd certainly be something to do if we ever were minded to sell the house.
Are Suburbans not Chevys?

Much better option than a chavy tarmac one.
