What exactly is being sealed, that what I dont get. You seem to apply a bitumen based sealant to a bitumen surface. End result is the same, namely bitumen exposed to environment. As it doesnt dissolve in water I dont understand how anything is really sealed.
If you want a nice black driveway then its OK, but I dont see how its making anything last longer
Arent you better off ensuring your vehicles dont leak oil and gas onto the pavement in the first place?

I refer you to the 'poor white trash' comment in my post. Although I arguably live at the posher end of town than you do.
That's exactly my sentiments. I recognised yesterdays miscreant by his ancient GM Suburban as someone who did it before. Poorly.
It wouldn't hurt to get it done. Last year we had piles of crushed stone and topsoil on the drive and I managed to put some gouges in with the excavator bucket when moving it all so a decent coat of sealant would be good. It'd certainly be something to do if we ever were minded to sell the house.
