There are 3 small bars that I know of in our local area, 1 not popular, 1 serving "pub meals" and a little out of the way, and the 3rd right on the main street, and has tables for about 20 people!

After 50 years here, I would say that the pub crawling culture of the UK is not found here except in the (17-) 19-25 age group, and immature males of any age.

As others have said, most people entertain at home.

Better start skiing, and going to apres-ski

It's not necessarily "pub crawling" Scilly, there are plenty of animated cheerful London pubs which you can drop into after work for a few drinks and a good laugh. And these days there are as many women in the pubs as there are men.

See there is the problem London pubs in Vancouver. Full of shandy drinkers thinking its a proper British style pub serving Bangers & Mash etc etc and not using proper Cumberland sausages. You won't see any whippets or greyhounds curled up by the fire either.
Just resign yourself to the fact that there are places to drink in Vancouver that try to pass themselves off as a pub.
Don't forget its a pint of Guinness eh.

But if you entertain at home how to you meet new people? Or indeed meet people to invite to your home entertainment?
