Off for my first experience of a Canadian dentist. Wish me (and my credit card) luck...

I think you'll be impressed. Never experienced any pain, they are really good here.

Good luck! I found the dentist of my dreams teaching where they train hygenists and assistants.

Do you have dental cover in your health insurance?
I had two teeth out earlier this month. Submitted online claim yesterday PM, and have it paid in full today.

My dentist is in Red Deer and I think he is marvelous. Al Hajajj something or other, the nurses are wicked awesome too and one didn't even flinch when I drew blood whilst gripping her arm

our dentist won't do anything if it isn't necessary.

because she explains to us the different options available and the cost (if there is a problem), and will say whether she thinks it may or may not be necessary to have to have the most costly.
I was fully expecting to have to have gum implants (would be done by a specialist), and she now reckons I won't need it, but instead fillings.

I have a good relationship with my dentist. I go see the hygienist, the dentist looks over my teeth every now and again. I pay on the way out. That's it. He knows the minute he suggests something that might be a) painful or b) expensive then I will be off, never to darken his surgery door again.
A perfect arrangement.

I HIT my last dentist!!

I have just found a real keeper though. I even persuaded my hubby to go to him, and he's not afraid to go back either, which is a major advance!

This was the fourth dentist I had tried in Calgary. I DID like the second well enough, but two drawbacks: 1- he's downtown, and I don't work there any more, so no longer convenient, and 2- he doesn't do direct billing to my insurers, so you have to pay up front and then try to get it back, which is a pain!!
