It's also the home town of Bobby Clarke, the Philadelphia Flyer of the 60s and 70s. When they were known as The Broad Street Bullies. Famous for his toothless grin.

I read the thread title as "don't get stuck in Flin Flon, Manitoba" and thought, silly thread, we all knew that.

i think the point is: even if you are stuck there, if you get sick make sure to go somewhere else.

Clarke was famous for the '72 Soviet series already, and a great player and captain, but the real thugs on the '76 Flyers (where the 'Bullies' name took hold) were guys like Dave 'Hammer' Schultz, Don Saleski, Gary Dornhoefer and Moose Dupont. Not all big penalty time players but very tough. They scared the Russians right off the ice one time, and they had to be coaxed out of the dressing room to come back and play. By then they had no spirit left and lost. Reggie Leech was from Manitoba too, but not Flin Flon, but I thought back then there were a few Flyers that had played their junior hockey together on the Flin Flon Bombers. I never checked and it may or may not be true.

I am wary of any small town or small community hospitals. The care at times in small hospitals seems totally 1950's.

Of the 9 worst ranked hospitals in the country, 5 are in Metro Vancouver.
"Burnaby Hospital, Ridge Meadows Hospital, Surrey Memorial Hospital, UBC Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital"

I've spent some time in Burnaby, in the ER & Acute. It was fine. There were no brawls and no one misdiagnosed me.
