You gotta throw proper fish and chips or sausage, mash and onion gravy in there somewhere.... followed by steamed treacle pudding and custard... might have to do it in stages unless you want to make yourself ill!! LOL |

I would suggest tackling a big box of cream cakes from one of those little bakers you find in small towns and villages. Over here the only cream cakes I've tried (eclairs) were full of weird sweetened cream. Not too bad, but nowhere near the real thing :( |
Re: Do you think that eating 6 crumpets....
Is a crumpet the same as an english muffin? Not very up my teatime snacks... :o

MrsWillow I toast them, butter them and then pour maple syrup on 'em. |

[QUOTE=MrsWillow]LoL What did you have on them? I am obsessed with food as you can tell. I am so impressed that we will be able to have them in canada too. My 2 love them after for a quick tea after school.
I just had lashings of butter - enough to dribble down my chin :D |

I know what a scone is, and what a potato scone is... that's about my lot I think :D No.....Muffins are made of bread dough and so don't have all the little holes in that crumpets do. The butter just sits on the top instead of soaking in and dripping through the holes...mmmmm Depending on where you are in the UK, muffins are also called baps, oven bottoms, bread rolls, bread cakes etc. etc. |
Re: Do you think that eating 6 crumpets....
Drooling now, just thinking about crumpets with lashings of butter, haven't had any in ages.
Or how about toasted teacakes? Do you get those over in Canada, are these just a British thing. Of course they have to absolutely drip in butter as well. ;) Karen |
Re: Do you think that eating 6 crumpets....
I was missing a bit of home and my Mummy the other week, so i got out the flour/sultanas and stuff and made rock cakes, lasted all of 5 minutes when the rest of the family came home - made scotch eggs on Sunday - daughter is missing, scotch eggs and pork pies of all things, found cornish pasties so we're all right there. Thing is we didn't eat them that much in blighty :D

MrsWillow I have good news for you...yes you will. My daughter brings them home for me from Toronto. 2nd piece of good news...you can get hot cross buns too! They are both available all year round. Think she buys them from Loblaws...brings loads home for the freezer...together with chocolate digestive biscuits and Cadbury's chocolate. :) After toasting the crumpets...butter them and put cheese on top...cheshire cheese is best and pop them under the grill. Of course a good old cuppa tea is compulsory. Mmmmmmm. Edit. Sorry I've just noticed several people have already mentioned buying crumpets. :o |
