I've just de-activated my Facebook page for the duration of the summer holidays. I only signed up for it once I knew we were moving to Canada, and have 'justified' using it (in my mind) as 'keeping in contact'. I look at it far too many times a day. I know more about what is going on where I used to live, than where I live now. I think I am also a 'victim' of the reinforcing nature of my news feed. I'm not going to start reading the Daily Mail, just a few more books.

I ticked yes to shopping but it's really vacation planning I do, without spending í ½í¸

The internet is for laughing, porning and shopping in that order. If you can find a funny porno set in a supermarket then you can get all three at once.

Believe it or not a quick google suggests the category does actually exist.

Quite, supermarket porn is a humourless genre; it wouldn't hurt the participants to crack a smile once in a while.

I feel like Indiana Jones and I've just uncovered the lost ark... The search is over... I need to sit down and take it all in (coincidently that is what the checkout girl said in that 'erotic film')

Social media and instagram are separate?

Facebook own instagram.

Facebook own a broad spectrum of companies, from social media to UAVs and facial recognition technology.

I regard instagram as different to social media. I think instagram is more a photo sharing/hosting site. I regard social media as having a news feed and messenging capability. But admittedly the boundaries are blured.

So., who has voted and NOT ticked the 'online forums'. I always thought that BE was an online forum...

Not me. That was the only one I ticked. I occasionally look at one other category, but I'm certainly not fixated with it.

Really? Tell that to any teen or pre-teen. Instagram is the social media and messaging platform of choice for all those whose parents won't allow them unfettered access to SnapChat.

Aside from this and one or two other forums, I use Facebook primarily to stalk old friends keep in touch with far-flung family, but don't do a lot of other online stuff.
