I am so mad. I went to the car after work, and someone broke the mirror on the drivers side, and it had to be done on purpose as there is no way it could be an accident and even if it were, they didn't leave a dang note.
The mirror isn't fixable, the plastic piece that holds it on is busted, its just hanging there right now, I have to figure out how to get it off so it doesn't fly off when driving.
I have to call Mazda when they open and get a quote for a replacement and labor, bet anything the replacement will be more then my pay for last night.
Makes me so mad when people do crap like this, costs us money we don't have because they wan't to be dip wads.
The dog gets a reprieve from her spaying for a few weeks now, if she knew she would probably be happy...
Doesn't look like any other car in the lot was messed with, so I don't know how our car became the lucky target.
Unfortunately our owner is too cheap to have camera's in the parking area or I'd check to see who it was that did it.

Had the same thing happen the day we were leaving for our wedding, had to do a mad dash to Halfords for a temporary mirror & piece everything back together with duct tape.

I once parked outside a sleepy pub in North London for 5 minutes (maybe 6) and came back to a smashed window and my brand new stereo gone.

That's a shame, call all the auto wreckers and see if you can find a salvage one; it should be a fraction of what Mazda wants.

264 dollars. Good lord it's a pricey thing. (just for the part, excluding tax and labor if they install.)
I don't think we have an auto salvage place anywhere close by that sells parts, there is a place that buys cars, but I don't think they sell the parts, just strips them for the metal. I'll have to check around, not sure there would be too many 2013's in a salvage yard though...lol
I am not sure if normal auto part stores sell them or not, have to try. It's all the wires and wiring that concern me, not sure I could figure it out and probably need to have a mechanic do it.

Why would you call Mazda? Dealerships will charge a fortune compared to independent shops. Call a body shop, they are just as competent and will be far less expensive - including the cost for parts.

Unless you are in some very remote location, I guarantee you there will be.

You don't need a mechanic, you need a body shop.

A shop can order one from Bucks or ICBC Salvage or any other wrecker and have it delivered to Squamish on the bus (so can you) but you still need to install or hire a tech. I'm no good at re-attaching trim so get my auto-body pal to do it for beer and lunch. Check ebay auto parts, get family in California to buy one there and mail it to you, possibilties are endless. When someone smashed the driver's mirror on my old van I was lucky it was still attached and drove 4 years with a dollar store mirror duct taped over it.

I think you over estimate what small towns offer.
I wanted to see what Mazda charged as a base so I can compare, the local shops are not open this early and Mazda was.
Do you think a cop would be understanding while a mirror was in the mail? BC law requires it to be there, but not sure if its a fix it or a fine or what.
The one's on Amazon are 60 but no real description or if its electric or just the mirror, confusing.

I'm seriously amazed that people on an internet forum do not use google to do a search BEFORE asking the members of BE, it took me all of 20 seconds to find that, and I live in the UK..

If you can find a salvage yard in Squamish, BC let me know. I don't know of any.

They apparently do "used parts" - so worth giving them a call to see if they have a Mazda2 door mirror in stock.

and on edit: replacing a door mirror is usually extremely straightforward. Pop off (it may need a little bit of gentle persuasion) the plastic trim piece from the inside of the door (on some car's there's a separate bit just for the mirror, on some it's the whole door trim that needs to come off) which will reveal the fixings - they're typically bolted through from the inside with three bolts, the the wiring all connects through a block connector that will only connect in one (correct) orientation. It's maybe a half-hour job, tops. If you're lucky you'll find a colour-matched mirror, otherwise you may have to put up with driving round with a non-matching one until you can get it sprayed to match...

Harold doesn't have one. Called and asked him.
Ordered the one off Amazon.com, seems to be the correct one and the reviews are okay. 80 US$.
Still pissed, idiot people need to leave stuff alone. No idea what someone gets from breaking a mirror.
Trying to find a video without success on how to do it, also have to find out what tools to buy, we don't have any other then screw driver which isn't gonna work...lol
The mirror will be in Pt. Roberts tomorrow, won't be able to pick up til next week, so hoping cops don't pay attention.

If the bits laying beside the car had any strange paint on them you've been hit-and-runned, not vandalised. That happens a lot, it's what happened to mine. I've also collected dents and lost a tail light in parking lots.
