I'm definitely not rushing into the wisdom tooth removal, that's for sure, just because I'm scared to death to have them removed

The estimate for the implant has gone into the insurance, $1800, I think I quite like my broken tooth now too. As hardly any of it will be covered by the insurance.

Just came back from the dentist one of my front teeth is fake its a bridge. And had become lose on sunday so went and got it glued back in it cost $77 not to bad. They said i need my teeth cleaned check up and x rays as i have not been to the dentist in three years that will cost $750. And my bridge is wearing out as i have had it since 16 im now 31 they said that the new way they replace teeth is to drill it into the bone. So its in for ever they said that would cost $3000-5000 for the one tooth better start saving as the next time it comes loose i will have to do that or somethiing else.

Well I rang another dentist - the one recommended - old them what needed doing - she went off - came back - $210 - same price - gahhhhhhhhhh

That's weird cos i just paid the $130 for exactly the same treatment (filling only). Unless they're adding extras on top, like cleaning, xray, etc.

Have they told you the actual code for the treatment?

I have been reading this with interest, as I recently went into the dentist in North Van and was truly amazed at the prices that they were suggesting. I am comfortable with the fact that prices are a lot higher over here, but I was wondering more about the fluctuations between Dental practices.

This morning, I had a 45 minute clean up and that cost just over $90. I will need to go for another similar session which will be about the same (plus a bit more for fluoride treatment). This is at the practice in Egremont Village. Very good, nice folks, and the clean was superb.

However, I need a fair amount of non-cosmetic work done as I have more filling that teeth, so I would be interested to hear of anyones experiences of North or West Van dentists and costs. I am almost toying witht he idea of flying back to the UK and gettiing it sorted there!

They're fine and very well established. $130 for a filling only. No other work or cleaning.

I'm more than happy with it.

I gave them the code the densist I had used had quoted - it was for a white one - maybe I should ask for a metal one?

The dentist actually said the metal ones last longer and are more durable. Whether that's true or not i have no idea. Still, i saved $40

My (adult) son got a little lazy with his flossing, had a toothache - ended up with a root canal and cap, plus it was a difficult tooth with a long root, so a specialist was also involved. The grand total came to a little over $4000 over a few visits (he had benefits at work to cover it, but he had to pay up front and claim it back - or rather bank of Mum did). Good thing, too!

Moral of the story - always FLOSS! lol

The last time I went to the dentist was three years ago in bangkok. I had an x-ray (for no real reason), teeth cleaning, and 4 fillings all for $100. I was a bit miffed cos I'd managed to not have any fillings until then - probably because I've never had toothache so don't really know what it feels like. Though given my previous and subsequent neglect, my teeth are probably all going to fall out at some point.

I haven't been to the dentist in the UK for about 6 years, after a horrendous experience when they injected my gum with anaesthetic incorrectly, spilling some of the ampoule into my mouth and so they injected a whole new ampoule into the gum. The dentist then waited only about ten minutes before he started drilling and even though I was in pain, he just carried on.
Later, as the anaesthetic took its full effect, the whole of my face, jaw and neck down to my chest on that side was numb until well into the night.
It was scary and it so put me off, even though I had quite a lot of dental work when I was younger to correct an overbite.
Now I have a back filling which is worn and needs replacing and in any case, I think it is about time I had another check. But I am a bit scared after that awful experience.
Would private be any better than NHS? Could I have it done in Canada better and similar price for private in the UK?
Anyone know a good dentist in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire?
