Re: Daily step count...

I have a Fitbit - it has made me realise just how inactive I am especially during the day. As a nurse in the UK I must have taken a huge amount of steps in a day. My job here is mainly desk work - I try and get up every hour and walk, but I don't really have anywhere to walk to.

The Fitbit gives me encouragement in the evenings and on weekends to do more, and by seeing the steps mount up I find that it pushes me on as it is visible.

I try for at least 5000 per day in the week - hoping to get it up higher now that Spring has finally sprung and we can get out more.

I think it is a great way to track activity 😀

I leave the wearable tech to Snoop to play with, I use a free app on my Samsung S6 as a pedometer and it is usually pretty good when I use my exercise bike daily- I aim for a minimum 7000 steps and usually get substantially more- it never registers this as anything more than a walk although I'm sweating like a pig afterwards! I do have to keep it in my front trousers/shorts pocket for it to register

I used to religiously wear a pedometer and would easily get my 10k steps in daily. The thing has conked out, my job has changed. I still do quite a lot of walking, especially if I have a lot of deliveries in a day, but during work a lot of my movement is now upper body, so although I move a lot, my feet don't move quite enough for steps to start counting.

Isn't it weird how our lives change us PP?....I used to find ease and pleasure in 10,000+ daily, and now everything + 7,000 is a peasureless chore...?

I have to "run" an uncharitable distance in an uncharitable time to keep my job. It'll unfortunately mean I'll have to stay away from takeaways and beer for a bit monthy. :(
