Daily step count...

The smart watches thread suggests there are more people doing the step counting thing than before. Post your Target/Averages here...

Currently I'm 12000/8000 (target/last month average) :)

Currently have my Fitbit set at a target of 12,000 and my 28 day average is 20,465. Highest count is 40,052.

I've been keeping track of step count since my daughter got 'walk with me' for my DS one xmas. After more than 5 years, I still manage to keep my average above 10k steps a day but all time best would be 99,999 which is as high as the walk with me counts. I was doing a 100k charity walk at the time though :)

Yes you really are awesome! I tried 10,000 for years and usually achied it, now the snow has gone I'll manage 8,000, but in winter here I'm lucky if I get 6,000 and that if I go to an indoor walking space.

5-6,000 a day is my target. I get there 5-6 times out of 7 minimum I do is 3,500 approx. That's the length of my usual dog walk route.

Plenty of free apps that track activity too, the one below is very accurate I find, within 50 compared to my watch trakker

What are people using to get their step count? What is accurate? I see Fitbit mentioned a lot.

I think I have a cheap pedometer in every cost pocket just about, but I've just got one of the Fitbit gizmos that act like a pedometer and attaches to your belt, not the watch one, my son has that and loves it.

I have a Fitbit One that I keep in my pocket. Any device/counter is fine as accuracy is not that important (because what you are really measuring is how active you are against yourself). The big plus with the digital devices is that they feed into apps/website and provides a slew of historical data which helps you stay motivated.

I use a cheap $30 Sync Burn watch and a free iPhone activity app, see above for app pic. All work great for me.

I returned my Fitbit as it was inaccurate and changed it for a Garmin vivosmart. It's brilliant. The Garmin app is great. I do a minimum of 10,000 a day. Most days is 20,000. Yesterday was 28,0000.

Yea, I try to do a run between 8-10km four or five times a week, but I also walk to/from work which adds on another 7000 steps per day. Being stuck at a desk for 7 hours a day pushes me to be a bit more active during my non working hours.

As mentioned though, Fitbit can be a bit inaccurate, I've noticed sometimes that just moving my arm will count as a step. I'll probably invest in something better soon

I try to do 10K steps per day. In winter it's often a little less...and in summer it's often more.
