This is not a sweeping generalization, but why do some Canadians think it is okay to tell rape jokes? The women also see the humor in telling their fellas or blokes they are dating not to rape them. I find this rather disturbing, they reckon I over think stuff and my sense of humor is questionable. I have only been here 5 weeks and I have heard this while chatting or eavesdropping.

Yeah never noticed that particularly, different social circles have different boundaries, it's probably just that more than anything else.

After 45 years I haven't noticed that people tell those kind of jokes. Maybe its a local thing.

Where are you now? I too have never thankfully heard such crap, but had I done so would certainly have lamped the person making the 'joke'. There is a good Phd dissertation in the Canadian male psyche!

Its a disturbing turn of phrase that i've notice creeping into English slang..to beat somebody convincingly as in a contest or game is to "rape' them..i told my son of the other day for using it when he was talking about his online gaming exploits.

I like the one about the two nuns, the bar of soap and the carrot.
