Default Croaking...

The Celebrity Croakers thread prodded me to ask 'How long will I live?'

Now I know that this can be a sensitive subject to many and like me, as you get older, you start looking at close relatives and if they're still alive you ask questions like.. 'How are you feeling today?' and ' Have you made a will yet?'

Unfortunately, since most of my relatives no longer talk to me - 'I wonder why?' I hear you ask, I'm not aware that vast sums of someone else's money are on their way to me so I'm conscious that those calculations made all those years ago that told me I'll run out of money after I'm dead should still be valid so I decided I needed an up to date estimate of croak time.

So it was with some relief that I found that having achieved the grand age of 70 that statistically I'm good for another decade. 'Ah bugger!' I hear you shout.

But it's an interesting exercise answering the questions and guaging the influences of various life choices on life expectancy all of which don't seem to have affected me at all it would seem.

Lifespan Calculator – Test Your Life Expectancy || NM

So I'm posting on the site until I'm 87 so get used to it, how about you?

Nice calculator. I get to 86, but...

70 is the new 60. By the time you are 87, you'll be able to extend another 20 years, then when you get to 107 (in 37 year's time) they should be able to keep you going as long as you want. Happy times!

91 for me (I'm 53 now). Not smoking, using a seatbelt help and I think I"m average weight. The question about family medical history in terms of health disease should be more specific to say how many generations back you think about in terms of 'family'. I'm also assuming that the question about driving infractions doesn't count speeding tickets as I've had 2 in the last 3 years but none in Canada (France and Quebec)

I always enjoyed looking at deathclock.com which even had a countdown to one's demise.

82 for me. Was I scoring "that high" because my mother is still going at (counts on fingers) 84 with three new hips and a shoulder? Blood pressure in there but not diabetes?

Deathclock.com says Friday 17th Jan 2031, which would make me short of 74. Quite a difference.

I've had an actuarial analysis conducted for my specific case. I'm not expected to last another ten years. At least, not by that insurance company, my mother suggests that I'll go on forever if I drink like she does.

73-Lifespan calculator
91- Deathclock
I'd prefer something in between.

I did deathclock and it says I'll die just before I'm 74 as well. BMI is 25 which seems to be the kiss of death for me. A lot fewer questions and being a smoker or non-smoker is the only real health question. Deathclock has to be click bait for something else.

85 - wow. No need to take up that exercise after all.

I've only financially budgeted till 84 however.

deathclock 74 - lifespan 88

Since no one in the dad's family died before age 91, I think lifespan with its questions is a better judge.
