Things are a bit different to my day. On Monday we bought our dinner tickets for the week and handed one over on each lunchtime when we ate. Those on free school meals also got the same tickets so they were not identified.

There was no choice of food other than not eat something but there was no junk.

What's on the menu, then, that the price difference is enough that some items are not covered for those on free school meals? Or is it the quantity?

And what is this "money on the card" that someone spoke of, something with a magnetic strip? Does it work the same way as dinner tickets used to?

Shard?

More "woe is me hurt feelings gumpf from the guardian"

Study found universal credit causing hardship a year and half ago

Ministers sat for nearly a year and a half on research that revealed that tax credit claimants experienced “real financial problems” after they signed on to universal credit, it has emerged.

I just can't relate to the values of current political climate in the UK at all.

I think most schools now operate cashless. Parents can credit an online 'cafeteria account' and the kids use their finger scan (or a card) to pay for the items.

What about bringing Queen Victoria back?

The best cause of action is for the Acts of Union to be rescinded. Scotland and England can then go their separate ways. After all they both want different things. England can leave the EU and be happy and Scotland can decide which type of EU membership it wants. The Scots never wanted the Union in the first place, so dissolve it and everyone will be happy.

Might as well go full Downton Abbey, and instead of expecting 50% of kids to go to university they can go into the workhouse and make wicker baskets.
