cottage cheese

I tried searching the site for this, but only found posts pertaining to "cottage" or to "cheese" but not specifically to cottage cheese.
So what's the deal with cottage cheese in Canada. It seems quite different.
I used to quite like it in UK, especially when I was trying to be good and lose a little weight. But here its like little smooth rubber balls in a rather slimy sauce.
Some Canadian I work with said oh yes you like the DRY cottage cheese- that's disgusting.
So when i saw dry cottage cheese in Safeway I bought a big tub of it. They didn't have small tubs.
I just tried it and it was indeed, if not disgusting, something that you'd probably not bother to eat for fun!
So now what? There are some recipes that call for dry cottage cheese, but they all seem a bit Ho-Hum. Then I mixed in some definitely not low fat Greek yogurt, chopped strawberries and blueberries, and a little sugar, and its actually quite delicious, if not entirely diet food!
Has anybody found cottage cheese as we know it? Dry cottage cheese mixed with Greek yogurt is a fairly close substitute.

Another quite interesting idea.... I just mixed said cottage cheese with a beaten egg, seasoned with salt and pepper and made a little omelette.
I should probably stop eating now.

hahaha AR's Cottage cheese cookbook page!
Can't really say as it makes too much difference to me, I only really use it in lasagne, maybe as a side with perogies (with spring onions chopped up in it).
Will remember your dry / greek thing for the future though
