Cost of beef
#1
Did I miss something since I spoke to my in-laws (Ontario) last week? Is there a sudden shortage of cows?
I was just mindlessly looking on CostCo website, and found this - The most expensive beef in all the land
$300 ... Is that about right?

Well since it's had saki massaged into it's muscles by geisha girls during it's short life, and butchered by laser sharp katanas weilded by Samurai it's actually cheap!

I go to Costco but I won't be paying $38 for a 12oz steak. I like steak but not that much.

Pork is the best buy right now, and I actually prefer it to beef for the BBQ. I do some mean bbq'd pork ribs which the kids love!

Not long after I posted that, I pointed it out to my wife. She's very much a "foodie", and said "Oh yeah, it's Kobe"
Right.
Here's one for you - Out of interest, what is the going rate for 500g of lamb chops?
LOL

Yeah, that's about the going rate for real Kobe beef, not the NA version.

We go halves and split a 4H cow
Granted you need a large chest freezer to keep it in but for around $600 (plus sending it to the butchers to be chopped diced minced whatever) you have a freezer full that'll last a year.
Worth it if you are in AB, as the beef is amazing.
(edited to add from next year we won't as we are rearing our own dinner lol)
