Been in edmonton 5 days
We still trying to work things out but all going well.
Went to supermarket and could't find cordial ( don't know if this is me being thick). Is it called something else?
Thanks
Kerry

Locals use crystals (yuk) or frozen concentrates that you mix with water.

Cordial drinks are not a big seller in Canada. You can get Ribena and Roses lime cordial at extortionate prices usually in Safeway, WalMart and Canadian superstores.
If you want drinks to dilute then look in the freezer section for the cans of concentrated drinks.
If you are not from Lancashire then yes you are being thick

There was a canadian brand (Granthams) I used to find in Metro locally (both Orange and Lemon), but it seems to have been discontinued...

You can find Ribena and Lyons lime cordial in the supermarkets, but most people here give their kids either fruit juice (watered down), fruit punch made from frozen concentrate, or coolade / crystal light etc that comes in little sachets that you add as much or as little sugar too as you want when you mix it up in jugs.
All the jugs of juice, coolaide, fruit punch etc in the fridge is probably why north american fridges seem huge...
Mostly my kids drink watered down juices or Ribena... I found squash in a new store near me (along with Hobnobs and walkers crisps), and the little buggers have decided they dont like it never having been exposed to it before.

I generally see it on shelves or stands next to energy drinks or bottled waters. Same aisle as pop and all the alternatives.

I suppose that if you have city water that tastes like crap or chlorine anyway then it may be an improvement

Drinking cordial is simply not a part of the Canadian culture. You'll find it, but, again, but it's in no huge demand anywhere. The Canadian cultural equivalent would be drinking Kool-Aid (kids only) or frozen juice/drinks from concentrate which is stored in your fridge. Or buying 2 litre bottles of Lipton's iced tea, pink lemonade, fruit punch, etc. which are all readily available in supermarkets across Canada.

I actually think the crystals make sense, they take up much less space and taste just like squash (to me anyway) when mixed in a jug properly. The Lipton Crystals are the best but difficult to track down, not many stores carry them, in fact the only time I've ever seen them is at Pricesmart.
