Cold Calling
#1
I can't believe I just got a cold call from a funeral home.
I'm on the do not call list and I have confirmed registration is current.
I have reported them.

Some firms do act illegally, and do not register with the telephone companies, so do not have a list of the numbers that they can't call, with a bit of luck your complaint will be one of many, and the company will face big sanctions.

Ha...I saw you mention that before. Maybe there's a connection.
Didn't give a chance. As soon as I'm sure it's not someone I'm expecting to call, the phone goes down, usually without the name even registering with me.
In this case I was aware of "and cemeteries" as part of the name just as I was disconnecting. Then I checked the number.

I'm also on the do not call registry but still get 2-3 calls a week.
Considering canceling home line as I rarely use it.Â

Good example, though, of why it's a bad idea for a funeral home to cold call.
See, I was thinking what if someone just bereaved had received the call, especially if they had been dealing with a different funeral home. (could have been me a year ago) Imagine how upsetting and confusing that might be.
But that's another slant on it now. You just get some bad news about a health condition and then you get the call.

When I was googling the phone number this morning and found their website I was unable to connect. I wanted to send them a stroppy email.
It's up now so I just sent them an angry complaint.

We have a ROGERS package which included ROGERS Phone service. When the phone rings a voice emanates from phone announcing who's calling. If we don't recognize the caller we press the yellow A button on the remote and the caller is sent to voicemail. If watching TV at time of call, the name or phone number of caller is displayed at bottom of screen and and again yellow A button sends the call to voicemail.
