Clotted Cream in NS!!!

Sorry if this has been posted before but we went to Halifax for a day trip on Saturday. We went to Pete's in Bedford on the way home to pick up a few treats - Scotch eggs, Pork Pies, Tin of Irn Bru etc

I was mooching around the fridges and spotted Clotted cream in a jar!!!

OH MY EFFING JEFFING GAWD!!! I said with a bit too much excitement
(being from Stoke this is actually pronounced Fuh kee nell )

It cost 5.99 for a small jar which is as to be expected a bit pricey but as a treat certainly worth it :p

I also discovered that Canadians pronounce Scones (rhymes with bones) properly :p

Since when did anyone from Stoke know anything about pronouncing things properly?

yeah I use to buy that when I lived there. It was the closest thing in thickness I could find to extra thick double cream which they do here in UK.

Sobeys does some nice "British" scones.

Old Style British Scones is the label according to a thread from a couple of years ago.

Sobeys does a Devon style thick cream - I say Devon style because I seem to recall the label saying it was manufactured somewhere like Wiltshire.

Funnily enough the same producer does double cream and Creme fraiche here. My GF spotted it in Sobeys yesterday!

My wife makes a reasonable clotted cream substitute. A similar recipe is here https://theviewfromgreatisland.com/h...clotted-cream/

It wont compete with anything that you would find in a farm shop in the South West of England but certainly nice to have

I have thought about making it before but its something that I have never quite got around to....Still on the ever increasing to do list :p
