Christmas song question

When you have a Christmas party over here and have locals over, do you play all the good UK Christmas songs or do you put on crap ones that they know?

The reason I ask, is; I was having a somewhat impromptu Christmas party on Friday night and people moaned about the Slade, Wizard, Shakin’ Stevens etc. Christmas music, until I pointed out it was my beer, tequila, vodka and sausage rolls and if they didn't like it they could naff right off. They seemed to warm to the music after that revelation. I'm not so sure if we have another party where people aren't quite so dependent on our booze, if they’d like UK Christmas songs?

You shouldn't be giving them Sausage rolls and booze. You will never get rid rid of 'em. Probably turn up New years eve now:(

I put on some nice Christmas music, basically all the number ones from 1973 to Mr. Blobby and they were ambivalent at best. I suspect if I put on Randy Travis or Dwaight "I'm a **** Yokum they'd be all over it.

Probably not. Seems a pretty clear study to me. Your booze is infinitely preferable to UK Christmas songs. Anyway, not all Canadian Christmas songs are rubbish. Hallelujah was a Leonard Cohen song and that's pretty decent. Can't think of any others though ... ;)

Nope - our party is on the 20th, the same nght that some or other country music christmas celebration is on TV - as soon as the inlaws saw that advertised it was a foregone conclusion that, once again - country music goes on.
