Default Christmas Parade

Here are some pictures from this year's Christmas Parade in Montréal.

Do they do this in other cities? It was really, really cool - I've never seen anything like this in Europe.

That looks just lovely, Canada2006.

I understand that Nanaimo (population 80,000, on Vancouver Island) is going to have a Christmas Parade on December 12th.

A Google search has brought up this list of Christmas Parades in Canada. It's obviously not a complete list, as it includes only relatively major cities. Still, it gives one an idea of what's out there.

Many cities in Ontario have Christmas parades, some more grander than others but they delight the children. The Toronto parade has been going for over 100 years and is quite spectacular.

All of them basically.

Im in a local concert band. We sit on a float and play loud Xmas music in 8 local towns in SE Ontario come rain snow or sun. Oh Joy.

One down, Seven to go. The first one was Nov 14th (I kid you not), the last one is the 6th Dec.

The smallest ones we do are probably Tweed or Madoc, it seems to take more time to put the lights on the float than it does to zip up and down the main drag. Its fun to see the kids all bundled up excited, waiting to the "The Man". Not quite so much fun when half the keys on your sax have frozen up....

my daughter was in the Kingston Parade on Saturday, it was great!, lots of floats, bands, cheerleaders, dance troops,Scotish pipe bands, motorbikes, everyone was havin a good time, BUT my legs was frozen by the time my daughter (all rosy cheeked) marched past me, took 2 hours for me to thaw out! a great experience, plus she saw herself on the TV as cogeco had recorded it! ive saves it on the DVR.!

Hi
Don't know where in Montreal you are but we are in Pointe Claire so every year go to the Christmas Parade in St. Anne de Bellevue. It is this Saturday starting at 4.30pm. The kids love it!

Thanks for the tip tallperson.

We're currently on the Plateau until next week when we're moving out to La Prairie on the South Shore.

Just to mention Montreal also has a huge St. Patrick's Day parade in March it seems like the whole city comes out to celebrate, it's a great start to spring and one of the few times you can drink in the streets without getting arrested

Its just outside Ottawa, only 30 minutes drive to downtown but far enough out to feel like a small town.

Hey - There was the Vancouver Christmas Parade yesterday!

I would say it was cold, but I'd be shot down from everyone in the mid / east of the country for being a southern nancy!!!!

Sorry - no pics but it was fun, and I did get to see the man, but more than that, I got to see horses, it was teh first time since leaving the UK I've seen any!!!!! I miss my neddies and it was funny seeing Canadian horses which are nothing like English horses and most were unshod too!!!!

you mean that is one of the times you would exchange your tenor sax with a soprano (assuming it's you in the centre of the picture)???
(long time ago, i used to play the euphonium, it is a slush collector too... don't get me started on cold mouth pieces though... )
