Cyber hugs - it's a funny ol' time. Is this your first one here?

Our first was Xmas was "pleasant" - nice enough, too quiet and just very different.

We've worked on it since

Have everyone ready at the other end with Skype or similar, and try and make a few last minute plans to specifically do something different to make it specifically different, if that makes any sense. I'd suggest not trying to replicate your last UK Xmas 'cos you can't!

Know anyone else on this site that might want to meet up? There must be a few on here at a loose end ....

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm working Christmas Day. sniff.

Normally we'd get up, have a cup of coffee and present-opening fest, then a great cooked breakfast. Then we get the turkey in the oven, and wander down to the Christmas skating on Bowness Lagoon ..... Folks dressed up in Edwardian costume, and hot chocolate to drink, with firepits on the ice ....

This year, I'm hoping hubby and boys won't make too much of a b***s up of cooking dinner for me, so I can come home to a few glasses of eggnog and vino and relax!

It won't be the same, but vive les differences (shrug)

I did get a but sniffly though after speaking to mum and dad on Sunday, and wishing them a Merry Christmas, cos we usually Skype on Christmas Day too, and I'll miss that!

oh Lisa
Remember all your new friends over here love you lots......cos we do!
I remember last year I felt a little bit the same, it's cos it's a family time of year, but it's also a great time to think back on all you've achieved this year and all the wonderful new people you've met that you never knew before and that you've added to your 'family'.

Think happy thoughts, have a tear or two and then DRINK LOTS! (but not egg nog cos it's gross stuff! lol x) and give yourself a gigantic pat on the back for doing what most people are way too scared to do.

Sending you big hugs and squeezes
Us Stophers down the road in Okotoks xxxx

Lisa I feel the same. Its our first christmas here and I am struggling. Its the first time that everI wont see my girls or grandchildren at christmas.

Then to cap it all my sister phoned this morning to tell me my Mum's has cancer. She had a scan on Monday and the Dr called her, and asked her to be at my Mum's house when she gets there.

When we plan this life change we think we will cope with all this, but it's so hard.

So sorry to hear that Miss C, and I can't offer anything other than kind thoughts for you and yours.

Lisa I agree with the advice you got from Snoopster, don't be afraid to cry a little but, and then remember that you are living the life you chose - so choose to enjoy it

Hugs to all that are feeling a bit low this time (and any other time) of year.

i know how you feel - can be hard this time of year.

i'm on my own this Christmas, hubby is working over in Cyprus until Jan. So have just planned the day to make it different - staying in bed till late (worked from 11th - 24th dec straight, no days off), then opening pressies, walking dogs then having a yummy brunch. over to a friends for a while late afternoon, then meeting some pal(s) from work and going to the cinema to see nine!

sorry to hear about your mum Miss C, hugs.
