Mr Derek was my era. Mr Rodney, like the moon landing, and death of JFK I am too ‘young’ for

that is very sad. Mind you, at 96, he'd had a good innings. He was still hosting Just A Minute until September of last year. Without repetition, deviation or hesitation.

I liked the show when they had Nimmo, Freud, Williams and Jones on the panel. All croakers unfortunately. After Graham Norton started I never listened again.

Merton and Fry are always good value. And Sheila Hancock. And Gyles Brandreth.

I wonder who will take over from Parsons. He missed only two shows in the 53-year run of JaM. His ability to play the foil to such a varied collection of comics and raconteurs was brilliant - always keen to set up a joke at his own expense. That'll be a hard act to follow. Mind you, I thought the same about ISIHAC after Humph Lyttleton died, but Jack Dee has really made that his own. Required listening in my household.

I'm of an accord with you in all that. Although it's difficult to imagine Just a Minute without Nicholas Parsons, I do hope it goes on. ISIHAC / Just a Minute / News Quiz are all favourites of mine.
