I met him once. He was being carried up Cheviot on a stretcher.

Another bit of my youth disappears. Remember sitting in front of small B/W TV with beers and mates watching the final. No idea where mates are, know where the beer went though.

I met him and Geoff Hurst a few years back, and embarrassingly, didn’t know who they were, which they found very funny...I think I said something excruciating like ‘ I believe you are in sport’ to which they responded ‘absolutely, what did you have in mind’

I know what you mean, I've been haunted by the countdown clock as well. That magic number 86 looks good at the moment...
