I don't care whether or not other people "get" some artforms that I enjoy. I have an ongoing debate with my elderly mother, who tends not to like any classical music unless the composer has been dead for a good hundred years or so, whereas I love(some) contemporary classical stuff, especially modern choral music. She is determined that "it's all too clever for its own good" but at least is prepared to acknowledge that perhaps there's more to it than that. She will not choose to listen to it, but doesn't deride my choice to do so. Wise woman, my mum. |
