If the DVD can be hacked or chipped to be multi region then yes. The videos will not play unless you have a PAL vhs player. Cd's are fine.

Unless I've been misinformed for the last few years.

With the number of VHS tapes I have, if I was doing it all again, I'd have shipped a TV/VHS combo with them.

I bought a DVD player here in Canada, it is an ITT, and I was able to unlock the player so it plays all regions.

It was looking for hack codes for our DVD player that I found the BE web site and somebody had posted a website address on it.

That wouldn't help if the TV wouldn't recognise a PAL signal, only if the player also did conversion as well as region free to a Canadian TV.

I don't know it my DVD player does conversion, but it plays my English DVD's with no problem.

It must do or you are lucky and the TV will display both signals ( very rare over here ) but pretty standard on good UK TVs.

I haven't found a multi-region DVD player here that doesn't handle the PAL bit... and I've been through a few already

I believe the cheap Chinese multi-region DVD players are all basically the same chips in different boxes with different firmware, so they should all work.

For VHS tapes, the simple solution is to copy them to DVD.
