Cat returning to Vancouver!

Cat returning to Vancouver!
After having spent approximately two years in the UK, we have now decided to return to Vancouver. Has anyone had any experience of transporting a cat using Air Transat from Gatwick? We used Worldwide Animal Travel to get her from YVR-LHR and they were fantastic, but as it is (supposedly) easier to take them back to Canada, we are hoping to do it ourselves. I know we can take her with us on the flight (in the cargo hold) and wondered where we check her in. From what I can gather, once you book your flight then you check on space for your animal. Would appreciate any advice from other members who have travelled LGW-YVR with their pets. Many thanks.

I used Air Transat when I came over (though this was nearly ten years ago) and had no issues. We went from Manchester and had to check in at the normal desk then take her over to a separate bit where her carrier went through the scanner (not with cat in there). I seem to remember the Air Transat people were very good.
I picked her up the other side at YVR at the bit where ski's etc. go and after a quick check with customs, we were on our way.

It's easy with Air Transat. Also the cheapest way to do it, but note that there is a limit to the number of animal per flight (4 I think), so plan ahead, given the limited number of flights.
You actually have to phone Air Transat in Canada to book the pet flights, even if flying from UK.
The procedure at Manchester (as Tigger1's example) is still the same.
Gatwick won't be much different.

They do have to go into a seperate section at immigration to pay all charges. Look for the signs to the Fee Line entry.

Sometimes they take some time to fit in but I think this is mostly because of a bad catitude. After a while they will think Canada is clawsome.
