I looked at a nearly new demonstrator car. I was told the advertised price was for cash, if I wanted 0% (which was available) it would be $3,000 more.

Hi All. It is a 2011 Explorer and drives very evry well. The car I was looking at was a Lincoln Navigator L, my requirements are as such family of 6 including 2 kids in car seats ( 3 year old and a 3 month old ) so space is a requirement including my desire to have a workable trunk! Also we do winter sports and a large amount of off road biking etc so the definate requirement for 4*4 drive.
The Explorer is short on trunk space and seating space, but it ticks all the other boxes.

Isn't the target market for the Lincoln Navigator aging Chinese ladies living in suburbs? It seems a peculiar choice for someone claiming a "definate requirement for 4*4 drive" as it must have the same offroad capability as a Beetle.

One of those crap old GM minvans vans with the AWD option and a tow hitch would have done the jop for less than 10% of the cost!

Actually the 4*4 system in the Navigator, Explorer and Expedition is a close family member to Land Rover so despite the image they are very capable off road. By your statement in teh UK RANGE rOVER AND land Rover must also have the off road capabilities of a beetle as their nickname isn't "Chelsea Tractor" for no reason

I suppose that it could, however as a personal choice, I do not like or enjoy driving crappy old minivans or brand new minivans for that matter

I'm curious how the additional $20k base price for a Lincoln over the Ford is justified - is it really that much different/better?

I wouldn't try driving around the backyard in a Navigator, I'll tell you that, I'd be fetching the real tractor to pull it. The Beetle, otoh...
