According to the Weather Network, right now in Calgary it's -21C, wind chill of -34C, with light snow.
Outside my office window the local high school has just turfed out, and the older ones are all standing at the bus stop... mostly just wearing hoodies, skinny jeans, trainers and no gloves.
I wish I was a teenager.

My son's at Junior High and they're just the same.
But then again where we lived in the UK, all the High School kids would walk to and from school without coats when it was pouring down with rain, so I suppose it's just the same!!
(except of course you can't get frost bite from rain!!)
Like you say - oh to be a teenager again!!

My daughter forgot her key yesterday, so she had to come to my work downtown.
Her zipper on her coat bust yesterday, she was frozen and glad of a nice hot drink when she arrived, I was distressed at the thought of having to go coat shopping and spending a fortune. Luckily the tailors were able to put a new pully up bit on (the bit that goes up and down and makes the teeth go together) for $10
There is no way anyone should be out when it's as cold as it is without proper protection from the elements, it's -33 this morning, colder than I thought actually, so it's real frostbite weather Brrr!
No wonder Henry's face was all frosty when we came back from our walk.

My oldest 2 daughters go to Junior high, and trying to get them to wear warm clothing is all but impossible... They leave for the bus at 6:15 in the morning, and it is bitterly cold, but they refuse to wear gloves, hats etc... I have managed to persuade them to wear coats but that is about as good as it gets.
Atleast my other 2 are still young enough that I can persuade them to dress in warm stuff before heading out to their bus - they go with snow pants, coats, scarves, gloves, hats, boots etc...

Naa. She's pissed. That's how it is done. Two drinks every 15 minutes and who feels the cold?

Its not just Canadian youths that put fashion before comfort. You have to admire their fortitude. Although it being Newcastle, they probably don't own a coat.

It's not that they don't own a coat, it's just that if you take one down the Bigg Market any night, but especially at the weekend, it'll get nicked from wherever you hang it up. If you don't take it off you'll melt from the seething body heat of densely packed paralytic charvers.
It's lose-lose.
Sadly, I'll be there this Saturday.
