Canadian vacuum cleaners!
#1
Hello guys and gals,
I wanted a rant and rave about my vacuum cleaner as it doesn't suck up enough dirt! so, I thought I'd ask you lot if you've got any good vacuums?
I've got carpet, got pets, got kids, got messy husband so I need something good! I bought a Bissel upright when we got here and it is absolute crap. Now I've bought a little yellow Eureka thing that is slightly better but still not sucking up the dirt.
Are they all like this? or am I going to have to buy a 3rd one?!

Canadian Vacuum cleaners? They SUCK!

Short of a Dyson, our sears kenmore canster did a decent job, and had good beaters for pet hair etc, but the design itself is infuriating, it seems designed to catch on the furnature regardless of what angle it strikes it at. Filter life is pretty good too. They may have changed the design to be less catchy since then thought.

The dyson is the only one thats worth paying a premium for I think, as it really is not dependent on paper filters at any point, but having said that we mostly just use a cheap bagless (but still filtered) dust devil as we got shot of the carpet that made the canister and its beater heads a necessity

They are as good as the ones in the UK and worth the money. I went through three NA ones first time I was here and the second time I ran UK ones off a transformer until Costco started selling Dyson's here.

Dyson's are flimsy crap and are just cleverly marketed. Stick with a proper bag vacuum, just replace it every month whether it's full or not.

Dyson clearly has a briliant idea for how to get rid of the need for a bag. How well executed that is in practice Im not so sure, I hear mixed reviews of reliability / durability. Some swear by them, some swear at them.

Dyson!!!
We bought 4 vaccuums when we got here and realised we that we were spending alot of money buying lots of crappy vaccuums when we might as well spend lots of money and buy one decent vaccuum, that works!
We have kids and pets too and Dyson does a great job!

Ah, a much better thread
We have a Miele. Only 1000W as opposed to 2000W in the UK, but much better than some cheap crap we had at first.
Bought it from Kijiji - though I had to drive to Richmond Hill to get it which was a bit scary...
