Last year, we went out with some of my husband's friends that were visiting and went to a Chinese restaurant. All of the Eaton Centre was open.

Won't do much this year, probably just go out and have something to eat, not a big deal to either of us.

Depends where you are. From what I can see, pretty much everything in QC will be open. There will be regional differences. For example, IKEA in Ontario will be shut, the ones in QC, BC and AB will be open.

Canadian Thanksgiving means nothing to me. We open the office. Some years we do close on Thanksgiving as people around the world are aware of it but Canadian Thanksgiving is pretty obscure, it'd be like explaining that we close for the Festival of the Spoons.

When is it?

All the local stores here close for the day so that its kept as a traditional family/friends day.

However, we are flying to TO on Friday 10th to spend Thanksgiving weekend with friends in Caledonia. Before we fly back to Halifax, we are spending our last day/night in TO so I can get as much retail therapy as I can fit in before meeting up downtown for supper with friends travelling in from Scarborough.

Haven't seen either set of friends since 2004 so am feeling pretty excited

Be warned that the LCBO and Beer Store will probably be shut.

That's not usually an issue on Mondays.

Perhaps not. I do now recall getting caught out on Thanksgiving in 2001. I went to buy some wine for the dinner and couldn't.

It means nothing because you don't like Canada. Never mind.

Oops. Sorry. I've got a meeting with my boss on the Tuesday and it was fixed in my mind.

Not because I don't like it but because I don't pretend to have a connection with it.
