There are rather more that have no respect for the police, myself included. |

I only know Toronto and thereabouts, within this area there are groups within the society that have no respect for the rule of law, yes, the Crips, Bloods and Hell's Angels for a start.

Not that I blame them as their hands are tied by the dumb ass politicians like Miller who gives them quotas to fill and earn for the city/province! Traffic division cops are an exception to this rule of course as they are analy rententive and actaully enjoy this! |

Re: Can you imagine anyone doing this in Canada?
The very second you hit 128, and every time too I'm sure:rolleyes:
So does no one get tickets for doing 90mph on the motorway in the UK? That's also 28% over the posted limit. On my last visit I tripped a camera doing 34mph, entering a 30 zone (13% over) Anyway, I digress. NO, I cant imagine that happening in Canada, but then I couldn't really imagine it happening in the UK either, so "never say never". My advice for people living in the UK is simply to ignore the media, they are a miserable bunch, I cant really see what is to be gained from indulging them. |

Maybe because bad drivers kill people, but theft isn't generally life threatening (assuming you didn't leave your dialysis machine in the trunk).
I had just left a stash of 100's and coke on the front seat but nothing out the ordinary! |
Re: Can you imagine anyone doing this in Canada?
One thing that is nice about Canada is the culture of flashing headlight warnings. I was going along at about 90mph last night and, but for a kind motorist coming the other way, would have got a ticket over the "50k over" tantrum threshold.

That courtesy used to happen all the time in the UK too. That is, until there were speed cameras every 50 yards.

Yes. All those intrusive cameras put me off living in the UK more than the Mail's perception of the crime rate.

The existence of Daily Mail readers puts me off more than either of those things. They're a lot more prevalent than guardianistas, y'know.

Then my favourite - what driver knows how to use a lane properly - not many people in Canada thats for sure they all just tootle along in the fast lane and if you want to get anywhere above 80kmh especially on the 401 then you have to treat driving like gran turismo on the PS2. I was always taught outer lanes are for overtaking not just getting into the second you get on the highway when all inner lanes are empty!! Ive driven at high speeds and been driven at high speeds and have never felt as safe as weaving in and out of traffic in a police cruiser at 240kmh on the 401 - its the muppet drivers that are the problem not speed! Cars are as one woman used to say 'a potential deathtrap' (think scottish accent forget her name) and many people should not be allowed one just like they would not be allowed a gun. P.S Im looking forward to the drive home today! Whose up for some dual live action gran turismo across the 407/400? ;) |

However I was stunned to hear a Calgary police sergeant on the radio one day, state that there is no such thing as a fast lane and anyone driving in the left hand lanes doing the speed limit is doing absolutely nothing wrong. It left me wondering what the point is of all the signs along the highways in Alberta saying "slower traffic keep right". |

Guns, give me a break ...you think they do a good job preventing people getting guns who shouldn't have them? 240 on the 401? There must be an implausible story there.... Its not worth getting stressed over the driving mate, you will have a stoke at this rate. Chill, you will just have to get there when you get there. Its stil got nothing on the M25. |
