I am moving to Canada this summer. I am an avid collector of live biological cultures (anthrax, smallpox, black death etc). Should I bring them as cabin baggage or have them shipped in my container and include them on my goods to follow list?

You won't find a decent hairdresser in Canada. (Sorry couldn't resist someone told me that once...she has since returned to Blighty after a brief spell here...)

Shoes will vary. There is no standardisation of sizing in Canada as all footware is hand sewn on the thighs of dusky Aborginal maidens.
