You can use your CAA card to earn "CAA dollars" at Mohawk and Husky gas stations. I usually end up paying $40-50 a year to cover myself and OH.
I have called them three times in 10 years. Once when my battery was flat, once when I locked my keys in the trunk, and once for a tow after an unplanned excursion into the bush on an icy morning. Each time they came quickly and had me sorted in a few minutes.

I've been a member for many years including coverage for the wifey when she's out in her motorized shopping cart. As other poster pointed out membership provides many other perks and I have used them all over the years. I think it's a good annual investment.

There are also lots of travel publications, maps, "triptiks" and so on available and included in the annual fee. Even with the net and GPS availability they are useful for planning trips.
As AC said, I reckon I get my fee back with discounts that you can get by being a member.

As I owned my V12 Jag at this time I also found the recovery service somewhat useful....

These are cool. One of the most exciting things in Vancouver was going to the BCAA office in Kerrisdale and getting the trip planner maps. OK, I am kidding about Kerrisdale but the map books with your route highlighted were great.

Win-win.

if you have run out of the original manufacturers warranty, i'd recommend CAA. One tow is likely in the ballpark of $80 for just a few kms in the city, if you are on the highway it can be much much more.
We do a lot of highway driving & holiday driving & have had to use the service a couple of times. no complaints here!
