hahaha I was driving home tonight from MIL house (playing my fave this time of year game of "spot the road in the blowing snow!") and stopped at the gas station.

Got out of the car and thought to myself - is it brrrrrrr, or is it cold enough to be f*****g brrrrrr.

Paid for the gas got back in the car and switched on the wipers. In the 5 mins I was filling up and paying, they had frozen to the screen already.

conclusion?

F****g brrrrrrrr ;)

we've had our fair share of rain too and you are right i hate it as it reminds me of England. Every bloody Sunday watching sons play junior footy on a soggy playing field. :frown:

The coldest I've seen in Saskatchewan is -44c and the warmest is 44c. Each winter we usually get a cold snap for a couple of weeks where it won't get above -30 and lows of -36 or so. Add a little wind and the wind chill values get ridiculous. We cope with it by dressing properly and exercising caution, especially when driving in the country - nearly every year we lose someone who gets stuck and leaves their car or who isn't equipped or prepared for winter survival. Even so, I'd rather go through that than all the freezing rain and snow they've had out east in the last 4 or 5 winters. The last time I had an overnight stay in Toronto all the cars had over an inch of ice on them. But the next night I landed in Regina and it was something like -35, -48 w/windchill and I knew I was home again. I wonder if that has anything to do with our labour shortage? Check saskjobs.ca . :-)

It's certainly making up for lost time:thumbdown:

Gonna walk the dog - HE LOVES IT, it's so lovely to see him bouncing around, it's this time of year he gets a real spring in his step, me however am too laden down in layers to bounce anywhere:eek:

I'm lucky - mine hates the cold and would rather stay in. I have to force him to go out to do his business...lol Funny thing is, he does like a quick roll around in the snow while he is out there

I actually prefer a warmish wet drizzly day rather than bone chilling cold and snow. If I'm desperate for sunshine I just take some sandwiches and go for a drive up Mt. Seymour. I guess I'm in the right place. :)

I'm actually feeling much happier about it by my drive home today.......

-I parked all day in a heated underground car park, and drove home all warm and toasty.

-I have heated seats in my car

- It had stopped snowing and the sun was shining, and everything looks real pretty!

- I have 4 wheel drive and just had winter tires put on for the first time yesterday.

- I have tomorrow off work!

- where's the smug smiley when you need one? :sneaky::p:rofl:

The coldest I've had is -25 (Canada) and the hottest is 49 (Australia). Frankly, both were awful. Anything between 20 and 30 is just fine with me.

Re: Brrrrrrr ......

Ok so today was our first dump of snow this winter and although we didn't have much compared to our Albertan friends the roads were terrible. It was -5 at 6pm and we went on the main highway to go food shopping, wow it was like an ice rink and that was with 4 wheel drive and 4 brand new snow tires, i don't think we got above 40km/hr (of course plenty did) but the guy coming up alongside me as the highway climbs upwards got a shock when his truck (i assume it was just rear wheel drive) starts to slide the rear end about and next thing you know he was struggling to make the incline.

sounds nasty, spent today rowing a small boat out from Victoria harbour, around the coastline in bright sunshine, snow on the Olympic Mountains, but its so mild here during the day that I worked up enough of a sweat to sit and enjoy a cold beer outside the Canoe Bar when I returned to shore!!
Cheers!!

At least you don't have to shovel it - or stand outside in minus 24 cold clearing a blanket of snow off your car before you can drive anywhere - that gets old pretty quick.

Perhaps if you used your garage as it was intended and not for storage you wouldn't have to clear that blanket of snow. :p:D

True - but can't be helped. The garage actually has room for one one car, but with a total of five in the family there will always be some outside :p

How are ya these days?

Bloody heck its chilly at the moment.

I don't know how you Alberdans/Saskies can survive the temperatures you are getting!

This mildly sub zero temperature across Vancouver is enough to send my lips dry and force my winter jacket on. Well worth it, if we get some more snow soon though!

I beg to differ. :p

The chart emailed to you is incorrect. At 9.27am local time this morning Edmonton International Airport was somewhere between -35°C and -30°C not the -29°C indicated. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/trend..._metric_e.html

Calgary was between -30°C and -29°C for that time period, not -31°C. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/trend..._metric_e.html

Being extremely picky I know but there you go that's me. ;)

It's cold no matter how you look at it. :)
