I've came home to a letter from CIC and wondered what the hell it was.
It's a silly brochure/flyer thing about being new to Canada. Telling me all about the services I can get free as an immigrant, which is lovely but we've been here three and half years now so have worked our way around most things.
Still at least someone eventually said "welcome to Canada"

Its not citizenship related by any chance is it....you must be eligible by now?

5 years in Canada this year, speedy service lol. Ours was for free language lessons and some helpful numbers.

We got one yesterday as well. It says we can enrol for free language lessons. It looks like I will be able to learn French at no cost afterall.

It sounds to me like a bit of end-of-fiscal budget-burning. Government departments do that (I did it when I worked for Foreign Affairs).

When we first arrived I went to the newcomers centre and was given a few leaflets and told that there was nothing there for us as we already spoke English.....

Ahh, that's what it is, thankyou
OK, I opened it out and folded along the dotted lines. But when I throw it, it only flies about 6-7' before crashing nose first into the floor...
For a paper aeroplane it's about as useful as a printout of web links.

That's a tad discriminatory isn't it? I would like to be able to converse with those that work for the Federal Government in French and be able read the "other side" of packaging.

I always read the other side of the packages, the road signs, it adds a little excitement to the day.

Did you curl the wings up?? That may help.

I got very excited to see the envelope for this. I opened with anticipation of the dates for our citizenship test, only to find it was crappy vouchers for nothing of any relevance at all.

I've tried curling them both ways and it just crashes down within about 3-4'
Did you, or anyone, get it to fly properly? We should have a competition, perhaps post a video or photo showing evidence of distance or style. Maybe an adventurous forum member living out west could throw theirs off a mountain?
