Is it really this bad in the UK or is it just a boring news day Numerous floods around us, 2 out of the 3 routes from our village have been shut off for about 2 weeks now. Hard to believe that last February half term the kids were running around the beach with no clothes on because it was so warm. :( So yeah, to answer your question, it's a bit s@*^! |
Re: British Weather
Oh my !!!!
Thanks for the on site advisory, makes our chilly but blue skies weather look almost sublime |
Re: British Weather
Hi
We're in south Devon, the last 2-3 mths has been rain...with possibly 3 days of clearer skies...otherwise the last 5-ish weeks have been back to back storms. Somerset levels has been under water for weeks and getting worse. We have an area of farm land that floods every year and even the migrating Canada geese have by-passed it! We've got 70-80 mph winds with worse coming friday so the Met office says! |

At least when Sasaktoon gets bad weather, the water runs out of our development and floods the one down the road :). |

This article brought home to me how bad things are and how ineffective the government is being. |

Re: British Weather
Even when I was there for a few days around Christmas, it was rain, rain and... more rain. We had to drive slow on many of the country roads because the puddles were deep enough that you wouldn't want to hit them at speed.

Re: British Weather
Horrendous. Most rain since 1766 and floods everywhere. Oh, and a bit gusty today...
The DM has some photos. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ar-Thames.html |
Re: British Weather
My in-laws live in Berkshire where the red warnings are currently in place. Their house hasn't flooded (yet), but they have pre-emptively gotten everything in their basement off the ground and are just keeping an eye on things to make sure the house doesn't flood. So far so good, but definitely on edge.
Hopefully there are no human casualties in all of this... Christmasoompa, keeping my fingers crossed for you that your house isn't in too bad shape!! |

Watching the news tonight, it's so upsetting. We get used to the weather on our benign little island being nothing worse than grey and rainy, so the scale of this is something else. :( |

Thank you. Fingers crossed for your in-laws too, whereabouts in Berkshire are they? We're in Berks but thankfully our house isn't at risk of flooding.

Re: British Weather
We are alternating from one day wind and rain, next day sunny and breezy with an occasional shower, today we had the rain, tomorrow it's sunny and showery. Fortunately we are high ground here in Bournemouth, so no flooding problems.

Re: British Weather
A man has died apparently trying to clear a fallen tree as hurricane-force winds batter parts of the UK.
The dead man, believed to be in his 70s, was killed after the tree brought down power cables in Wiltshire. |
