British toasters compatible in Canada?
#1
Hi my name is Reg,
I have a Russell Hobbs 2 slice pop-up toaster in brushed stainless steel that I brought with me. I've got a transformer (I'm not an idiot) but I'm still having problems. I tried plugging into the TV but it still won't take my Canadian bread slices, do I need British bread? Has anyone else had this problem?

British toasters have a more formal approach to a dining occasion.
You may need to raise a glass of port to get the desired result.

My first thought was to guide you towards the WIKI above - or indeed to use the search function as many here have had the same problem. However as you seem particularly special here is what we have have found.
Canadian bread has more particles of air when made - so when you take it out of the wrapper it immediatley starts to expand, meaning it won't fit in your toaster.
The only way to combat this is to make the element inside the toaster cooler, so it shrinks before putting the bread inside.
A time saving way to do this is to take a cold bath and then put the plugged in toaster in the bath with you - and hey presto - perfectly toasted.

Thanks
An alternative for the OP is to try bread rolls; I believe they are region free.
Though really he should have just sold his toaster on ebay and spent the proceeds on a top of the range george foreman grill. These are fully compatible with other Canadian household appliances and cost a lot less here.

Some bloke recommended a conversion software program by Roxio but it takes so bloody long I keep missing my bus in the morning.
