"British" Chocolate
I am going home for a visit, leaving tomorrow :D
During a chat with a colleague about the trip, she asked if I can bring back some British chocolate or sweets. The people I work with eat a lot of junk, crisps, chocolate and sweets. They would like something quintessentially British but I am drawing a blank here. Other than some British Cadbury stuff, what else can I bring back? |

Re: "British" Chocolate
Curly Wurly? Walnut Whip? Black pudding.
OK, that last one isnt technically a kind of chocolate, but is uniquely british maybe. |

Maybe Thorntons choccies, they've been going for ages. You could throw in a bit of their toffee too, although the last time I had some I broke a filling.

I'm surprised, at myself and at the suggestions so far, for all the moaning about local chocolate I've seen on here in the past it's actually pretty hard to think of a specific British confection worth bringing back. |

Terry's Chocolate Orange. My nan used to buy me these at Christmas. You only have to tap it and unwrap it.

Now that would be carrying coals to Newcastle. The stores here are awash with them at Christmas time.

Re: "British" Chocolate
Topic, Milky Way, Milky Bar, Caramac. Can you still get Milk Tray bars? And Plain Choice bars?
Sweets - Sherbet Fountains. Lemon bon-bons, Shernet Lemons (and the strawberry versions). Toffee crunch (pillow shaped things). Mojos, Fruit Salads. And Smarties in tubes not boxes :) |
Re: "British" Chocolate
I like marathon bars and those pink shrimp things. And some some space dust.

Re: "British" Chocolate
Dickens in Chilliwack BC import real British foods... $3 for a turkish delight and $8 for a pot noodle... harsh but a welcome fix when needed:thumbsup:

Re: "British" Chocolate

Re: "British" Chocolate
Galaxy
Minstrels Flake And Branston Pickle in a squeezy bottle ;) |
Re: "British" Chocolate
One of those nice metal tins from M&S containing a mixed chocolate biccie assortment usually goes down pretty well with work colleagues.

Re: "British" Chocolate
Great suggestions...well some great, some downright weird.
I think that Thorntons will be a winner, maybe some Galaxy and Revels are a great idea. Most other things can be found here, except maybe the sweets you used to buy as a 'quarter' bag. Lemon bonbons, apple tarts, aniseed balls. The problem will be actually bringing this stuff into work without scoffing it all myself. Do I like these cretins enough to part with a family bag of Revels? |

To the OP, Bournville chocolate and a tub of heroes should do the trick. |
