Bit of a bummer, as the only option now is BA, who'll no doubt increase their fares.

Yes, it will also remove the Canada - GLA option on Star Alliance (with AC for the transat segment). I would think a number of Star partners will not be too happy with this. It might be we will see the return of the direct YYZ-GLA seasonal route on AC.
