That would be the start of divorce proceedings in my house.

Toujours est-il que similar dans La Terra Neuve, exceptezvous refer to La Femme est 'Mudder'.

The word "strangle" just popped into my mind.

If you are refering to mon franglais then 'mangle' would be appropriate.

It's no more or less offensive.

You so called humour disgusts me. I have a hard enough time because of the way I look without idiots like you.
you came all the way over here from Australia to say that? Why bother? The sentiment of the joke was hardly offensive regardless of who the target is. Unfortunately for you, 'blonde' is a shorthand characterisation for a ditzy airhead, has been for many years, and will likely continue to be so for many more. The non-airheaded blonde has been used as a comedy device for almost as long - just think of movies like Legally Blonde. The characterisation isn't made of Asians, or fat people, or redheads, so your suggestion is rather meaningless.

If that sort of humour disgusts you how do you get on with Australian comedy - not known (at least in this part of the world) for its subtlety or political correctness?

I don't understand why you have a hard time because of the way you look. Are you blonde? Do you buck the stereotype of airheadedness? If your answer to both questions is yes, get over yourself. If you answer to either is no, stop complaining. If it really gets you down, you could always try joining the ranks of the bald - we are the butt of plenty of jokes of our own, at none of which I have yet taken offence.

I have told my husband that if he ever refers to me as THE WIFE he will be in big trouble - such a common phrase around here - much prefer to be blond - which I am with the help of highlights anyhow!

AH - now I know what I've been doing wrong all these years (yes - I'm blonde).
