Default Birthday Cake Experiment -- that actually worked!!

Just wanted to share this ridiculous adventure experiment I did this weekend that ended up turning out great!

My husband has an obsession with chocolate peanut butter snacks - Reese's cups, peanut butter Kit Kat bars, and so on. There is a box of Reese's Puffs cereal in our cupboard nearly permanently.

Every year for his birthday I make him some completely ridiculous cake. One year I made a 3-D bear cake (was about 8 layers of cake!).

This year, I decided to make a giant Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup "Cake". Did a bit of googling to get some ideas, and then decided to just wing it and see what happened.

The end result was fantastic. It looked like an actual giant PB cup, and tasted DELICIOUS.

The inside is two layers of chocolate peanut butter chip brownie, with a layer of peanut butter icing in the middle. The case is milk chocolate, and it is a complete case - bottom included!

Happy to share the recipe and progress pics if anyone is interested. Pretty proud of this, so wanted to share!

Don't like Reece's pieces - but that looks amazing. Well done you.

And I would have tried a little bit, just for quality control purposes you understand.

You can get PB Kit-Kats? Bleurgh!

I love Kit-Kats. I love Peppermint Aeros, After-Eights and most mint chocolate. I even like Terry's Orange choc. I prefer Dark (Plain) chocolate to Milk choc.

But I loathe Mint Kit-Kats, Dark Kit-Kats, Orange Kit-Kats. Now it looks like I get to loathe PB Kit-Kats as well.

Nice looking cake though

I like cake. Haven't had a bad one yet? Well of course I have, but would rather remember the many good ones. Your hubby is a lucky man. That one looks just wonderful.

Like Bristol, I'm a dark chocolate woman....used to love something called Terry's Waifa?

I hate Peanut Butter.

My husband would crawl on his hands and knees through glass to get his mits on your cake. I must say Snooks, it looks very impressive

That cake looks very interesting but couldn't he just take up golf or fixing lawn mowers?

Haha well if you want to venture and make him the cake, it was not just difficult, just time-consuming. (Took about 4 hours to make, but a lot of that was waiting around!)

LOL Nutek doesn't need any more ammunition for his picture arsenal! That said, not sure where he'd manage to use these! Unless Nutek has a peanut butter chocolate obsession I do not know about??

Haha this wasn't too hard to make look good! It was pretty straight forward. I was working with decent quality milk chocolate that was melted, and I bought a tin that was the right shape, so it all did it itself!

Can you send me the recipe? My youngest son loves to bake, so the four hours to make is not going to be my problem. The clean up usually is though so if he makes too much of a mess I will be calling you to come deal with it .
