Default Big flying bugs

Hello, can someone please tell me what the following is:

Flying black insect, longer than a wasp, skinny, jet black with long shiny blue black wings. Evil temperament, likes to hang out with a number of his kind and dive bomb me when I leave the house.

Is it some weird flying ant/wasp hybrid??

If I didn't know any better I'd say it was JamesM having a laugh at the end of a good night. But, it does sound like a flying ant type-thing.

Mud dubber wasp is another option, but not usualy an aggresive species

Thanks Mikes! It appears to be mud dauber and have just found a couple of their nests
