I have no idea what's trendy anymore. To be honest I suspect that most of Canada shares my disinterest. Function seems more important when its sub zero and snowing again...

Also, for kids clothes, is there a Next/Monsoon equivalent vs a Primark/Tesco equiv? Or would you suggest stocking up before going for the kids?

The south end of 21st Street:p

Funny you should say that. We stopped at Calgary on the way back from Banff and there was a girl in a mini skirt at the Chinnock Centre. I don't think its the kind of weather, maybe with thick tights and long boots. She was in this denim skirt with her legs showing and had white high heal shoes on.

Anyway this guy was reading a book then he noticed her and couldn't stop staring. He was about 50 and looking at this 16 year old girl.

It is when it costs three times as much as it would if it wasn't 'designer'.

Hi , here in montreal there are loads of designer stuff, thats great if you are a size 8/10. Sorry but old navy and zellers stuff is crap.
Winners is good for better stuff but you do have to look, Gap, H&M , Tj Maxx, childrens place, mexx and sometimes walmart if your desperate.

You might want to have a good stock up on childrens clothes as i find them very expensive and quality not so good.
I get my family to bring stuff over to me from next ( still have my account:)) or i do a big shop when back in england. Kids British stuff sells like hot cakes second hand so you will make your money back when you need to get rid.

Defo stock up on underwear for yourself, stuff here is terrible

I remember when we went to an engagement party of one of Neil's friends and they are "designer freeks".

They had purchased a pair of Moschino jeans for their kid, I think he was one. He was running about then all of a sudden his little jeans fell to his feet. The elastic broke and they were brand new.

What does that tell you about the quality of these stupidly priced jeans?

I have no qualms about buying stuff for my kids used. They dont care one bit. There are a number of good used stores just in our small town...far more than I seem to recall seeing in the UK anyway..it just seems far more the norm here for kids?

The stuff that seems most indestructable is either Oshkosh or Childrens Place...both US brands AFAIK. I wouldn't dream of paying original price for either though. Stuff sent to us as gifts from Next and Baby Gap and the like seems nice enough, but its not super durable in our experience.
