Benefits in the UK for single Mums

I went to see my friends ex wife today as she is looking to change her mortgage (as a favour to him). I have to tell you I came away absolutely disgusted at what she gets.(this is really unprofessional I know but I thought I had to share it as it was making my blood boil)

She has 3 kids two to my mate and one to another guy.

20 hours per week teaching assistant Job £770 per month
Maintainance from my friend £385 per month
Other Childs Dad £250 per month
WORKING TAX CREDIT £250 A WEEK £1083 A MONTH
And another £150 or so child benefit.

Giving her a average weekly take home of over £600 a week.:curse::curse:

Fairness in the UK your having a f*****g laugh, and my friend is toiling after he pays her and the his own mortgage. To make matters worse she has a new car with a private plate, O and she gave him a lift the other night and asked if he liked her cruise control (you couldn't make this sh*t up).

O and she is livid cause her mortgage is rising £60 pm. Surely she must be telling lies to the government about her income her net disposable income is better than mine!!!!!!!!!!! (GREADY COW)

END OF LONG RANT:curse:

She probably doesn't have to pay full council tax either!

One thing that winds me up, is when I'm in the Pharmacy and no one else seems to pay for their prescription:curse:

At our local high schools, most girls (not all) aim of a career is to have a baby! it takes the credit away from "proper" parents

That is why I like the Immigration procedure of Canada - they don't seem to let just anyone in, and everyone has to support themselves. (I am all for helping someone when they need it - but most abuse the system)

How much does she have to pay for childcare?

Before you get on my case I'm not saying what she gets is right but child care is a factor especially in the summer months when you can look at paying over 100 pounds a week per child. Woirking tax credit doesn't go up for the summer months.

My husband before we moved was paying over 400 pounds a month for one child - he had a crap (pregnant)solicitor (CSA calculations on his earnings would have made it 250 pm).

Whereas my daughters biological got away without paying anything as he refused to aknowledge the child and the CSA dropped the case because of the previous abuse to me.

Whatever way you look at it, it just isn't fair.

Doesn't sound like a massive amount of money to bring up three kids on. Anyway, if you want to be angry at someone, how about Philip Green?

If she's working as a school assistant and depending on the age of the kids she probably doesn't need childcare (or maybe very little).

I totally agree why is it some people can get everything and others nothing.

Depends how you look at it I think my beef is that only £770 is earned, but I think £600 a week is a decent amount remember its £ and not $.

Either be very rich or very poor, don't be in between.

Does he think he fathered kittens?

£385 per month is a pathetic, drop in the bucket, contribution to the cost of raising two children.

You beat me to it. Kids cost money; you make them, you should pay for them. If she has found a way to raise two kids in comfort, good for her.:curse:

£600/week is bloody good money, especially if it is take home. It's more than I get as an experienced nurse.

She did seem well off when I misread the post and she had a private plane. Less so on second look.

Seems the tax payer is contributing more to the support of thes kids than their fathers.

I find that more shocking than anything else.

They "should" be ashamed of themselves but I very much doubt that they are.

Your obviously on the wind up!!! the guy clears £1400 takes his kids two days a week and the other guy in the equation does the same. I have two kids easily raised on less than £90 per week and I can assure you my kids
want for nothing.

This girl would need to earn £40k a year to earn this money on her own, maybe I just need to wake up and smell the coffee but I can't for the life of me see where She should get this much benefit.
