BE'ers around the world map.

Shamelessly copying an idea from kimilseung on the USA area of BE which may or may not take off here (Everything from our friends in the south eventually get here........right ;))

Want to know where all your fellow Brit expats stuck in Canada are? Add yourself to the map, no need to register.

https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=505503

to add, additions>add marker.

Click on the map with the zoom about half way, and it will place you within a couple of miles, near enough for us to get an idea, and far enough to maintain privacy.

On the far right is a horizontal chevron button, to toggle the list of names added.

For obvious reasons I would not suggest that persons with warrants (or other such things) outstanding give exact details :rofl:

Loving the fact that Oink's nan has got a marker!

Although there's an awful lot of 'anonymous' markers too, not sure people are quite getting the point of it. If you don't want people to know where you live, then don't add yourself to the map in the first place!

I love how people refer to the North of Canada. Did you actually know that geographically the north starts at Baker Lake Nunavut.
So anything south of Baker Lake you are in the south or central Canada not the North;)

Re: Add yourself to the BE Canada Map

Looking at the map at the high level reminds me of a few things

1. How far east St Johns, NL is
2. How far East to West BC is..... and the fact that it covers 2 time zones I always thought it was all Pacific Time
2. How far south Nova Scotia and Toronto are.....same latitude as Northern Spain

Is there a definition of North? It always amuses me when Canadians think they are living inthe north when most are living on the same latitude as the south of France.

It's not the Canadians that think they live in the North, it's usually the Americans and the tourists.

Though, for the sake of modesty, they are at least covered in snow for most of the year...Then again, that could be what makes them so sticky uppy.

And when I lived in S. Ireland I was in sight of The Paps! And that's exactly what they were said to be, the breasts of the goddess Danu. They also had nipples.

The Paps, located in the vicinity of Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland are a unique prehistoric monument. The mountains are probably several hundred feet high, and are part of the foothills to MacGillicudy's Reeks. The stone monuments on the summit are on the order of 20 to 50 feet in height.

The oral history of the region suggests that these monuments have long been known as the Paps of Danu. According to Professor Myles Dillon in "The Celts" Ed. Joseph Rafferty, Mercier Press, Cork and Dublin 1964, the Paps are Da Chich nAnann and probably date to pre-Christian, pre-Celtic, indigenous Irish cultures. The Paps probably date from a sedentary stone age or perhaps bronze age farmer culture perhaps from 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. They most likely are meant to honor the fertility of the mother-earth god, or earth mother D'Anann the principle deity of the original people of Ireland the Tuatha de D'Anann, and who is was believed to be the mother of all pagan gods.
