Beer and clamato?
#1
Just been told (by a Canadian) that I have to have one of these when I come over. Personally I think she's talking out of her backside as they sound hideous but she swears by it.
I'm pretty sure I'm having my leg pulled but I'm willing to humour her and ask the BE population for their input..
So, has anyone had a beer and clamato and is it the divine nectar she claims it to be?

It's thought of as more of a hangover cure but some people do drink it as a normal drink. I've tried it (I'm Canadian) and it's really not as bad as it seems and it's actually essential if the only beer you have around is Kokanee.

It is called a Red Eye, normally Beer with Tomato Juice, normally for a hangover.
You add to Clamato, 2 ounces of Vodka, some Celery, Salt, Worcesteshire Sauce, Tabasco , ans a sprig of Celery, Voila, a Caeser, NOT a Bloody Caeser, BUT a Caeser.

A Caeser is a Canadian Concoction, U.S. Bartenders are generally oblivious to it, in the Excited States you have to ask for a Bloody Mary.

One time, in Lake Placid, I was served a ceasar that seemed to have been prepared based on a quick squint at the recipe book. At a distance it looked promising but close up the green bit was not celery. It was a gherkin.

When I used to frequent bars etc. when I was working, quite a few people drank beer and Tomato juice, but not Clamato juice. I have never tried it. It sounds like something I wouldn't like, but then I guess one can never tell.

I love it.
I think its more of a girlie drink. It has to be had with Clamato juice though, with normal tomatoe juice it tastes yuk.
