I hope you two are getting ready for a big blow and a lot of rain.
Best of luck to you and everyone else on eastern side of The Rock.

Latest word is that the system is moving so quickly that rainfall amounts will top out at 50mm. Going to be windy though. Don't think it will be as bad as Igor last year. We'll see...

I hope you're both managing.
I googled Hurricane Mary Newfoundland and came up with this astonishing mangle of the English language from a US site called OnlineTV. Can you believe this?
"Hurricane Maria picked up pace weekday on its artefact to the ocean shore of Newfoundland, transfer 80 indication (130 kph) winds and the existence a peak of threesome inches of fall for the river domain windy and rainy."
Jesus.

I didn't know Jesus was doing the weather forecasts now. You'd think he'd be more accurate. And articulate.

Didnt come to very much at all to be honest around St Johns - Not sure about further South but basically we had a few mm's of rain and it was a bit windy. Seems like the wicked forecasts and shutting all the schools etc was a massive over reaction - I have been known to play golf in worse back in the uk

'Twas all a bit of an anticlimax I agree. Tough call for the School Board etc though, if they hadn't closed the schools early & conditions had been worse, the kids would have been travelling home in the worst of it which wouldn't have been pretty. Damned if you do, etc etc.
I walked the dog last night just as the eye had moved over. At one point, he stopped and looked at me with a "wtf are we doing" expression on his face. That's quite amusing on a spaniel.
