Right here we are, we have spent a week on Canada on our trip we did lots of driving, seeing the sites, visiting shops (food and household) also my hubby has been offered a job so why do i feel very strange?
We had a lovely week, apart from missing my kids and doggys which we left back in the UK with nan, hubby got offered the job which he wanted and its a great wage, in the area we wanted . The company will do all the paperwork for the TWP and they have even said they will give us 2 months housing and a car.
I feel very strange - i was so excited about going out to Calgary and when we were out there i was very happy but now i keep thinkin is it the right thing to do? taking my children away from Nan and Grandad? is canada better then the Uk? is very odd i thought i would be jumping through the roof tops but i am so scared and worried??
Can anyone help please?

For us- Canada is better than the UK as we are skiers, which was in part a very important reason for our move.
I think for most people its not cut and dried but a balance and you have to weigh EVERYTHING up, money, time spent with kids, quality of life etc.
Why did you look here to begin with?

We have been thinking of moving overseas for few years now, want more for our kids and a less stressful life, my hubby wants to see more of the kids plus we both wanted a more outdoor life. Its just i am so worried about it all and now things are moving i still worry.

Well I think most of us go through these feelings -its normal to have doubts.

Plus we are into the outdoors as well as the skiing thing.
Things to consider:
1. What is is holiday allowance and does this translate to seeing more of the kids?
2. Will the salary buy you the lifestyle you want?
I say go for it- afterall you can always move back

Got to say that what you are going through is normal
When i looked back on the last few months in the uk, i wounder how i ever managed with the stress and worry.
Now that we are here that has all gone, ok i do miss my mum and my best friend like crazy
but they are a call away and webcam that we have just got is fab
Is it worth taking the kids away from gran/grandad
i would say yes, for us anyway, the kids love it, they have all settled into school and for my house to be so relaxed and happy again.
It has been hard and the emotions that you go through are bad, but now that we are here, i have settled
We are 2hrs away from calgary, but there is plenty of expats in calgary if you need the support
Good luck and feel free to PM me

Hi Lisa,
Your feelings...entirely normal. This is a rollercoaster ride. Our feelings were all over the place at different stages of our application process and especially as the big go/no go decision drew near. Clearly no-one but yourselves can make your decision for you but there will be very few people on this forum who will not recognise at least some part of the sentiments that you have articulated very well above. And as the excellent moondevil said, and as you know yourself from your time here in Calgary, there are people here to support you and hubby and the children should your decision be to proceed.
Hey, by the way, congrats to hubby.
Kind regards,
Eamonn & Janet.

Hi there.. You won't know that youare making the right decision till you do it, there is a certain element of risk involved, but hey if you don't try you'll never know. We have had the same thoughts about are we doing the right thing, grandparents etc, but you need to think about yourselves. We have come to the conclusion that you can't live your lives for everyone else you must think of yourselves. You could spend loads of time thinking what if, but go for it or you'll never know.
We are 1 week from going to Nova Scotia, the packers are in tomorrow so I know exactly what you are going through. Keep the focused if its really what you want and I'm sure it'll all work out
Good Luck

Your kids will probably surprise you - by handling it better than you thought (and possibly better than you and hubby at the beginning!). They're resilient and more adaptable to change than we oldies are
Your feelings are entirely normal. It's hard to make a big change like this!
But... my opinion is that I'd rather try it and change my mind than not do it and always wonder what it would have been like.
You'll be great. Most of us Canadians are pretty nice people
I'm missing a select few at the moment...
Best of luck to you. You'll feel better once you start settling down again. Everything is in a flurry for you right now.
