Avoid HSBC Premier at all costs

In fairness, HSBC Premier have been great both in the UK and Canada.
Never had an issue in the UK, set my Canadian account up with my relationship manager in the UK and over the phone.
Arrived in downtown Van, walked into their Premier center and sorted my wife's account out when we arrived.
Both got Mastercards with no problems (slightly lower limit than in the uk, but having never got near the limit its not an issue!)
The only one issue we had was the wife's master card did not appear on her online banking, a quick call to Wanda in the branch and it was there within two hours.
BUT
Don't get me stated on HSBCs commercial banking

Here is a good reason to shun the hsbc:

"Wow. So the executives who spent a decade laundering billions of dollars will have to partially defer their bonuses during the five-year deferred prosecution agreement? Are you ****ing kidding me? That's the punishment? The government's negotiators couldn't hold firm on forcing HSBC officials to completely wait to receive their ill-gotten bonuses? They had to settle on making them "partially" wait? Every honest prosecutor in America has to be puking his guts out at such bargaining tactics. What was the Justice Department's opening offer – asking executives to restrict their Caribbean vacation time to nine weeks a year?"
