Default Aurora Borealis Friday (9th) Night

There is a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights tomorrow night as there is extreme activity at the moment.

http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForec...ica/2012/03/09

Friday Forecast: Auroral activity will be high(+). Weather permitting, highly active auroral displays will be visible overhead from Inuvik, Yellowknife, Rankin and Igaluit to Vancouver, Helena, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Bay City, Toronto, Montpelier, and Charlottetown, and visible low on the horizon from Salem, Boise, Cheyenne, Lincoln, Indianapolis and Annapolis.

We keep missing them in Airdrie The local paper this week has a great photo taken on Valentine's night. We have signed up for email alerts from

http://corona-gw.phys.ualberta.ca/AuroraWatch/

Trouble is the emails come at 1 or 2am

Desperate to see them. I've been awake half the night every night this week with a damn chinook induced headache so may just catch them this time if I cba to get into the car and drive outside of city limits.

Always manage to catch them when they are around these parts whilst driving home in the wee hours.

It's hard to keep your eyes on the road when staring in wonderment upwards.

You can use this website to find out the likelihood of clear sky and good viewing.

Just select your area and hometown.

It's supposed to be good for viewing tonight and tomorrow, however, it really depends on cloud cover too.

Another website you can check it out on: http://helios.swpc.noaa.gov/ovation/

Some people in Kansas were able to view it on Friday, unfortunately I didn't see it at all

http://www.spaceweather.com/

You should have had a clear view in Alberta - some pictures available, here is one (more on the website): http://spaceweather.com/submissions/...1331370106.jpg
